- Old Price / New Price promotion with printed savings amount
- e.g. Regular price is $12.99 . on sale for $9.99
- True BOGO - including weighted and differently priced mix and match groups
- e.g. Buy one steak get an other of equal or lesser value free
- Table Pricing - buy 'n' get 'n' at a special price
- e.g. Buy three CD's and get 1 CD for 1¢ (or free . or 50% off, etc.)
- Quantity Pricing - buy quantity 1 and all will be reduced by '¢' and if quantity 2 is reached - save an added '¢'.
- e.g. Deli sandwiches are $5.00 - buy 3 and they will all cost $4.25 or 5 and they will all cost $3.75
- Limited Quantity Pricing - price is lower for '#' units - then the rest at regular price
- e.g. Apple Pie Sale - $2.50 - limit 3 - Regular $6.00
- 'Mixed Deal' Pricing - buy item 'a' and get '¢' off item 'b'
- e.g. Buy this wine . get $5.00 off that wine
- e.g. Buy charcoal - get .50 off Fire Starter
- Bundle Pricing - buy any '#' from this table for '$'
- e.g. These T-shirts range in price from $7 ~ $10 - buy any three for $20
- Set Pricing - buy any 'a', any 'b', and any 'c' for a total price of '$'
- e.g. any pair of skis, any set of poles, any pair of boots for $300 0r -
- any of these wines, this bread, and these cheeses for $45
- Credit Voucher Reward - buy 'a' and receive a credit voucher for your next visit
- e.g Buy a Deli item today and get 2% off all Meat purchases next week
- Bar Coded Reward - buy 'a' and receive a bar code on your receipt - good for (fill in the blank)
- e.g. The system will print a bar code surrounded by text of your creation. The bar code may trigger virtually any type of promotion
Most of these promotions may be 'triggered' at certain dates or times, for all customers, for any customer, for customers with cards, only if the transaction amount meets a threshold, etc. They may recur at certain times each day or may, in some cases, link to other promotions to be applied at differing times.

Other promotions may be applied to Department
or Category purchases and may offer differing percentages of discount
to different merchandise Categories or Departments.
- These promotion types may be triggered by date and time or .
- A total purchase threshold amount (Spend $50 to earn this promo) or .
- A threshold amount within broad merchandise types (Spend $50 in Non Food to earn this promo) . or .
- Use of a "Loyalty Card"
- Specific levels of "Loyalty Card" (e.g. Gold card, Silver card, etc.)
- Use of a particular type of payment card (e.g. Visa)
- Some bar coded promotion (as described above)
- A particular Customer (even one particular individual)
- Driven by a Manager's on the spot decision
